Tropical Twirlers previous eMails from Mike

MESSAGE - JANUARY 2, 2026
We are expecting at least 3 new dancers this Sunday, maybe 4. For those
who are new, please come at 3:30 pm to go over some basics. Tell your
recruited dancers about this earlier time, please. If anyone else wants
to come early and help move tables and help the new dancers, you are
welcome.

If you are recruiting any dancers and they have not committed yet, tell
them we will be closing the class soon, so we can progress. After we
close the class, it is still possible to join, but they will need to
contact me to discuss it first.

Also, I encourage any dancers from last year's class to attend. Your
experience will be helpful to the newer dancers, in these earlier weeks.

MESSAGE - DECEMBER 11, 2025
The holidays has people coming and going. I have decided to cancel the dancing/lessons
for the next two Sundays, December 14th and December 21st.

However, I am taking a head count for December 28th, if you know your availability.

If you were at last week's session (Dec 7th) I already have your answers, with the
exception of Clarissa and Jake who were a "maybe" and Theresa who is in Ohio with a very sick mother.

Please let me know your availability for the 28th when you can.

If you are a Snowbird and were in last years class and will be rejoining our group,
I would like to hear for you also. When will you become available to join us?
It helps a lot in future planning.
===========================================================
For December 14th, you can come to the Okeechobee Orioles to dance instead. I will be calling this dance.

Square dancing and other dance forms such as circle mixers, contras, Virginia reel, simple lines..
Open to the public, no experience necessary.

December 14, 2025, 5 pm to 7 pm, casual dress
You do not have to be a member to attend.
Okeechobee Orioles

MESSAGE - NOVEMBER 24, 2025
We finally have 8 dancers to get started this Sunday November 30. We
just added a single dancer who was recruited by one our own square
dancers. This is how it is done, word of mouth works best.

See you all on Sunday at 4 pm at the First Christian Church,
510 Poinsettia Ave, Sebring, FL.

We will continue to poll our members each week thru the holidays to see
if we have enough to dance.

MESSAGE - NOVEMBER 13, 2025
If you are on the Next Door app, I created a new group for Highlands County
that you might want to consider joining. Of course, the goal is to get more new
dancers interested.

MESSAGE - NOVEMBER 10, 2025
We do not have enough dancers to begin dancing as yet.
We only have 5 dancers saying they are ready.

However, I have not heard from many of you who have expressed interest
in the past, nor from many of last year's dancers, who I hope will be
returning once they arrive for the season from the North.

Please let me know your available start date (even if it is in January),
so we all can make accurate plans. If you have already responded, there
is no need to respond a second time.

Regarding the Okeechobee Orioles dance for December mentioned below,
It now has been rescheduled for Sunday December 14th from 5 pm to 7 pm.
No experience is necessary for this dance.

MESSAGE - NOVEMBER 5, 2025
I have 2 things to mention.
First, I think were are close to having enough dancers to get started with dancing on Sundays.
See the attached flyer for details. Just a few days ago, I got a message from another couple,
Jim and Joanne from Avon Park, who are interested in learning.
So I am now taking a head count of available dancers.

If you are available to dance now or know when you will be actually available, respond with your
earliest Sunday start date. If you don't respond, you will not be counted in this poll. I will
add up the results and let you know what works best. This is a good time of the year with the
holidays approaching, as our music selections will include such music.

Second, If you are available this Saturday, November 8 from 6 pm to 8 pm, I will be holding a
party dance at the Okeechobee Orioles in Okeechobee, FL. No experience is necessary.
Everything will be taught. We will be doing square dancing, circle dances, line dances, contra dances, etc.
This is open to the public. You do not have to be a member of the Orioles to attend.
Food from a menu will be served for a price. You may want to come early to eat. I do not know
if there is a cover charge to dance or not. Casual Dress.

If you can't make it this Saturday, we will do the Orioles again on December 14th (NOTE NEW DATE!) same time.

MESSAGE - OCTOBER 9, 2025
Attached is a new flyer for our lessons/dancing created by Shannen
Guillen. Thank you Shannen. This is an example on how any of you can
help in any way that you have expertise in. It makes the overall effort
easier for all.

Please use the flyer to give to your friends or post on bulletin boards
where you can. Encourage prospects to contact me and get on this
mailing list. This is the way I can keep track of willing dancers and
when they are available to begin. Once we have enough we can start,
but I need the feed back from all involved.

The older version flyer that I sent out about a week ago, is also still
valid information.

The upcoming holiday season means we will be dancing to the music that
corresponds to the season. Lots of fun.

The yard signs thus far have brought in 3 potential dancers. If you
can sponsor one in your yard let me know.

MESSAGE - SEPTEMBER 27, 2025
SPECIAL NOTICE

After talking to the dancers who did attend last week, we collectively decided
to postpone the square dancing/lessons, until more dancers who live up North arrive,
or until we can get more locals to commit. The turnout the first two weeks of dancing
was not sufficient to warrant continuing.

I am asking those who plan on participating once they arrive in Highlands County, to
let me know your arrival date, so I can plan a new start date based upon everyone's input.

I will continue to advertise locally and collect names. Just today as a result of our yard
signs, I add another couple who just moved to Sebring. They have danced in the past in New Jersey.

It is looking like the restart will occur around November/December, but I need your feedback please.
Hopefully the holidays will not interfere with the participation.

MESSAGE - AUGUST 26, 2025
Here is this year's flyer for square dance beginner lessons which begin
Sept 14. Please print some copies and help distribute where ever you
can. I need your help to spread the word. Please talk this up when
you go to the dentist, doctor, while in the store check out line,
neighbors, church members, etc. Talk it up on Facebook or Instagram,
also. Without your help in spreading the word, it makes it harder to
get the dancers we need to make our club grow.

I have a couple of street signs that say: Learn to Square Dance
...419-376-0557. If you have a place where it can be displayed, where
it will not be taken down by county workers, let me know and I will get
it to you.

You are on my mailing list because you expressed an interest or have
already participated with the dancing. If you no longer wish to get
these emails, just let me know. Your reason for removal from the
mailing list would be information helpful to me.
